Virgin Australia was operating at Safety Awareness training that was lacking engagement. It was mandatory training they were struggling to have staff agree to attend. They saw this as an opportunity to refresh the program and use it to build culture as much as knowledge.
THE PROBLEM Their existing Safety Training Program was not hitting the mark. User feedback surveys were poor and attendance was low.
THE SOLUTION We refreshed the whole program, interfusing it with engaging learning design, solid adult learning principles and plenty of action based learning. We cleaned up the learning architecture and created an easy to digest model that was about experience and engagement as much as content.
THE RESULT We piloted this new approach across all of larger ports in Australia with outstanding success. Staff engagement went up and the safety message and culture became further ingrained. We infused the program with links to their company values and created a piece that was meaningful and impactful. Staff loved it. Stakeholders adored it and most of all safety awareness skyrocketed.
OUR FAVOURITE PART This was a great collaborative process that lifted the spirits of those that were involved. It was a great piece that demonstrated how a safety message done well can improve culture and unite
